Book review: Here and Again by Nicole R. Dickson

I received this book through a giveaway and I’m not gunna lie, I was nervous as hell to start it. Normally I don’t like the “Housewife books” , you know what I mean, the love and sap just don’t appeal to me.
So after I got this book it took me a while to actually get up the nerve to read it. So after about a week of it sitting on my shelf I thought… with you don’t read if you don’t take chances… I cracked open the front cover and paged through the title pages, signed page and the acknowledgments and  see a letter dated May 10, 1861 I immediately start reading. This one letter along was written with more description than most of my recent books.
Let me just say Nicole Dickson has a way with words. Once I got started I couldn’t stop! She seamlessly brought together past and present in a wonderful story of love, Loss, and making it through life. Miss Dickson, I applaud you and your talent for writing and keeping the reader wanting more! If you need a good cry book… GET IT NOW!

What are you making in your kitchen? Blogging for books review: In the Test Kitchen by Tyler Florence

Growing up, I learned to cook early. Working in the care home took knowing how to put together three full square meals a day and for so many people at once. At the time I can honestly say… I hated it! Now, I realize my mom taught me soooo much!
This Thanksgiving our house hosted for my fiancés family. Everything was going great! We did all preparations the night before, like cutting the veggies, boiling eggs, those types of things, so most everything was easy. While I was sitting at our dinning room table reading my latest book, I heard what sounded like water boiling over, I’m not ashamed to say that it happens sometimes in our house, I look back to the kitchen and see smoke billowing out of the top of our stove! Our oven caught fire due to way way WAY to much butter! And it happened a couple times before we realized what the problem was. Everything turned out fine though and we had a wonderful dinner. Afterwards I made some much needed family calls!
My latest Blogging For Books addition is In The Test Kitchen by Tyler Florence. In this book Tyler Florence aims to create better versions of old classic recipes. I love the idea behind this book. When I first opened it I thought this kind of reminds me of a journal, I mean honestly how cool would it be to own a 5 star chefs personal cookbook!? Tyler Florence gives so many ways to make comfort foods, holiday foods, and just plain family dinner foods so much more enjoyable! I think to anyone who loves to cook or anyone who goes to potluck style gathering often this would be a great book to have laying around your kitchen. I can bet any recipe you introduce to people from this book will start a great conversation! Don’t forget, as always, the buying link will be below. Check it out, you just might like it. And of course Happy Reading Loves!

“There is no competition of sounds between a nightingale and a violin.” Book review: The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

I won this book through a giveaway on Goodreads, completely free and even though I wasn’t asked for a review I feel like this book needs one! Now I need to say I had never heard of Kristin Hannah prior to receiving this beautiful paperback. So naturally I turned to some of my favorite bookies! I was told that Kristin Hannah also wrote a book called firefly lane, which came as a high recommendation for my to-be-read list
So I was getting excited over the idea of this book. When I read the details of this book I was under the impression that this book was about World War 2. Now, it was, but it also became for than that for me.
Getting to know Viann and Isabelle was amazing! It gets to points in time throughout the book when you have stop and remember that even though the time, setting and story around these characters is and was very real, the characters themselves are fictitious. My mind was racing through the entire book. How in the hell would I have survived in this era, faced with these obstacles? I feel like I felt everything that happened in this book, and to these amazingly strong women! 4 stars…. but only because it ended!

Are you the D.I.Y. type?

So I am super excited because I have finally gotten my latest book from blogging for books!
Its called D.I.Y. type and literally all it is, is a couple examples on how to use this book and a bunch of stencils. I use to love scrapbooking with my mom and it would have been great to have these. It comes with two full alphabet sets in different fonts and a couple of boarders for accents, but its a great start for your collection.
I created a banner for my room as well as my friends sisters room because her walls were bare and she’s been saying she needs decorations for it. All it took was these stencils and some paint swatches! Super easy, super cheap and super cute! I have so many plans for these! If you are the D.I.Y. type you should pick these up! I give it 3 of 5 stars. I love these but wish they were smaller or more came in the set.

Oi >.< Christmas, Canollis and crap

So this week I do not have a book from blogging for books because there was an error when they processed and shipped my last book so I have to wait for my new book to come in. Over the course of the next course of the next couple of days I’ll be attempting to cover some of the other books that I have gotten the past month from sites like goodreads and what not.
As for everything else I feel drained… its not that I have been doing much because I really haven’t but mentally I feel drained…. it seems like every once and a while I just get into this mood of being frazzled and easily frustrated. I’m in the process of opening my own bakery. I have a few customers and a huge order for Thanksgiving which I’m so stoked for. It is for a someone who ordered from me last year. But this last week I was contacted and asked to do a batch of 3 canolli. No problem, I thought! So the first filling I made for them was made with ricotta and it came out grainy and I knew I couldn’t fill them with it. So I went and got heavy whipping cream and attempted to fill them with that. Well it was hot in the kitchen and the whipped cream started to melt… they looked so unprofessional and I was so disappointed in them. I always encourage my customers to give feedback to the email on the back of my business cards. I have yet to receive any feedback and im am crushed…. I just need things to go right and smooth.
And of course everywhere I turn is Christmas… I despise Christmas. Sam Sam is determined to pull me out of my Grinch state but I don’t know…. Oi….. I’m so blah right now!

Wake up in the morning and put your face on! Blogging for books book review.

I wasn’t as into makeup as most girls growing up. I have two older brothers, Eric and Allen, who I would have much rather spent time with than my little sisters. I think it was because Allen always had the best video games and those really REALLY interested me! My mom wasn’t the one to teach me about makeup, but rather my few friends. At least until I started watching YouTube.
Michelle Phan, became famous on YouTube for her makeup tutorials, tips and tricks along with turning herself into barbie lol. But now not only is she creating her own makeup line but she is also writing her own books. I got my copy of Makeup: Your Life Guide to Beauty, Style and Success online and off through blogging for books for review purposes. It covers everything a woman needs to deal with on a daily/weekly basis. My absolute favorite part is the hair and nails section. I would have to give this book 3/5 stars. There was just something missing. It had tips and tricks but I want more of those and less just do this not this. Below are some links for buying and reference so don’t forget to check those out!
