* Synopsis *

Stella

My life was good.
But, like most things that are just “good,” it fell apart. I fell apart.
I had lived to work before, but when my husband left my job became my entire life.
Then I went for coffee and my life changed. Days before finalizing my divorce, my past sat down across from me and it was like life had been breathed back into me. It was only the beginning of a crazy, not at all planned out adventure with him … much like our escapades when we were kids.

Brian

Twenty years ago my parents moved our family to Tennessee. My heart stayed behind in Western New York.
On a well-planned whim, my best friend and I packed up and headed north to begin realizing our dream of owning a business — a coffeehouse — in the small college town I spent my childhood exploring.
It took me years before I had the courage to go home, set up shop, and find her, though. I needed to be certain I could give her everything.
That day finally came.
When she walked in, she stole the air from my lungs.

This is our story.

Now i hate that sappy, googly eyed, crap. I am so over reading most romance books because its not realistic in any way, shape or form. However, Miss M. L. Pennock has created a story that sucked me in from the first page and carried on through out the entire story! The pictures she paints for the readers is amazing! She never fails to add descriptive details about everything! Which i think was one of the main reasons i loved it so much. Now this is the story of two people who re-found each other after so many years of being away from each other, which can and does happen im sure! When you were a kid you always hear that you will love many people in your life and love will come in and out of your life frequently. Then you hit your teen years and you love everything that walks at times and at others hate everything that walks. The two main characters knew they loved each other at 9 and split ways and didnt see each other for so long. The only thing that I wasnt that big of a fan of was that the book is split into different sides of the story, like,  each chapter is the other persons point of view. Now, there are always two sides to every story and i feel like it was vital for the reader to understand every aspect of the story but after reading the final Twilight book i just havent been a fan of that format. Thank you Miss Pennock for the ABSOLUTELY AMAZING read! I look forward to the next installment and honestly if you wrote your grocery lists the way you wrote this i would probably read those too!

Now for The Library At Mount Char by Scott Hawkins.

* Synopsis *

A missing God.
A library with the secrets to the universe.
A woman too busy to notice her heart slipping away.

Carolyn’s not so different from the other people around her. She likes guacamole and cigarettes and steak. She knows how to use a phone. Clothes are a bit tricky, but everyone says nice things about her outfit with the Christmas sweater over the gold bicycle shorts.

After all, she was a normal American herself once.

That was a long time ago, of course. Before her parents died. Before she and the others were taken in by the man they called Father.

In the years since then, Carolyn hasn’t had a chance to get out much. Instead, she and her adopted siblings have been raised according to Father’s ancient customs. They’ve studied the books in his Library and learned some of the secrets of his power. And sometimes, they’ve wondered if their cruel tutor might secretly be God.

Now, Father is missing—perhaps even dead—and the Library that holds his secrets stands unguarded. And with it, control over all of creation.

As Carolyn gathers the tools she needs for the battle to come, fierce competitors for this prize align against her, all of them with powers that far exceed her own.

But Carolyn has accounted for this.

And Carolyn has a plan.

The only trouble is that in the war to make a new God, she’s forgotten to protect the things that make her human.

Populated by an unforgettable cast of characters and propelled by a plot that will shock you again and again, The Library at Mount Char is at once horrifying and hilarious, mind-blowingly alien and heartbreakingly human, sweepingly visionary and nail-bitingly thrilling—and signals the arrival of a major new voice in fantasy.

I love a good fantasy book but i was really let down with this one. I guess i had such high expectations when I picked this book on B4B because i had read nothing but good reviews. I just feel like it lacked something for me. In Miss Pennocks book there was sooooo much description and i get into reading this book and it failed me. I found many places where the author could set up a place to describe the world that this book revolves around and, well, it just didnt. I read about 40% of the book when i felt more like i was forcing myself to finish it. I hate feeling obligated to read something because then i am not enjoying it at all. Another thing, someone wrote a review that the charcters where unforgetable…. i kindly disagree. I didnt become attatched to them at all. I love falling in love with characters…. I love being able to think about them and relate them to my every day life and I. JUST. COULDT. I may eventually give Scott Hawkins another try but for now i think im going to steer clear! I received both of these books for review purposes only! Below is the buying links and hopefully youll check them out!
